We’re giving summer the perfect send off with Green Tie Ball XXII! That’s right, Chicago Gateway Green’s signature fundraising event is back and the date is set for September 7th, 2013. After 21 years, the event has gone from a 500-person street party to one of the most well-known charity events in the Windy City. Last year, we counted almost 4,000 people at this event!
This year, we are returning for one last time to A. Finkl & Sons Steel Mill in Lincoln Park. The event boasts a crowd of young professionals, Chicago celebrities, public icons, political figures, media stars, and of course environmental supporters. We are proud to announce a Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory theme for this year! ABC-7’s Windy City Live hosts, Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini, will return as top-notch emcees.
Not only is this event hailed as the most anticipated gala experience of the year, but it also benefits CGG’s Expressway Partnership Program by raising a great deal of funds. Our expressway gardens turn dreary patches of grass into gorgeous green parkways welcoming visitors and Chicagoans alike into the city. These gardens cover almost 150 acres of roadside landscapes, on all major expressways leading in and out of the city. We are proud to say that over 100 gardens make up our expressway program.
These gardens reduce pollution, conserve water, cool the hot summer air, absorb pollutants, and raise community awareness of just how important Chicago’s urban forest is.
